The petition of William Walter of Chichester, Sussex, January 1652

To the Right Wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the Peace sitting in Sessions in Arundle in the Countie of Sussex
The humble Petic[i]on of William Walter lately a souldier under the Com[m]and of Maior Clarke
<Humbly sheweth>
That vpon his petic[i]on deliuered to the Justices at the Generall quarter Sessions held at Arundle 1648 therein shewing that he was wounded in the Arme at Stowey then being vnder the com[m]and of Capt[ain] Knowles and ever since vntill he was disbanded vnder the Com[m]and of Maior Clarke hauing gon out vpon severall parties their was a pencion of fower nobles graunted to be yearely paid vnto him w[hi]ch for these twoe yeares is vnpaid he being poore and haueing a charge and by reason of the same wound not able to pr[o]vide for them
His humble request to your Wor[shi]ps is that you would be pleased to take his sad condic[i]on into your serious considerac[i]on and to graunt your order that the arreares of his said penc[i]on may be forthw[i]th paid vnto him and that his penc[i]on may be enlarged and duely paid vnto him by the Tresurer for Charitable vses maimed Souldiers if it shall please you to graunt &c:
