The petition of Robert Perry of Great Bedwyn, Wiltshire, Hilary 1654

To the R[igh]t wor[shi]ppefull the Justices of the peace [illegible] nowe sittinge at the gen[er]all Quarter sessions att Newe Sarum.
The humble petic[i]on of Roberte Perry of Greate Bedwin in the county of Wiltes[hire] Labourer
Sheweth
That whereas yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r beeinge in the late Warres a souldier in the service of the state and takeinge vppe armes first in the [illegible] service att Charnam Streete in this County and yo[u]r petic[i]on[er] beeinge afterwards wounded in the s[ai]d service as by the certifficate of Col[one]l Bingham p[ro]duced to yo[u]r hono[u]rs att the Quarter Sessions at Marleborough which is since casually loste did appeare Forasmuch [illegible] as yo[u]r hono[u]rs were then satisfyed of the truth of yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]rs woundeinge in the s[ai]d service Butt did refferre yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r vnto the further exa[m]i[n]ac[i]on of Justice Martin & Justice Sadler & Justice Blissett beefore whome yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r hath nowe made [illegible] yt appeare by the Oath of one Roberte Parker that yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r did take vppe armes in this County namely att Charnham Street afores[ai]d As by the certifficate of the same Justices appeareth. And forasmuch as yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r is a poore impotente person not able to subsiste of himselfe w[i]thout such releife as by the sev[er]all ordinances & Actes of Parliam[en]t are allowed to Maimed souldiers
May yt therefore please yo[u]r hono[u]rs to graunte yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r such releife as to yo[u]r hono[u]rs shall seeme meete
And yo[u]r petic[i]on[er] shall ever pray &c
