The second petition of Edward Hudson, royalist soldier, July 1660

To the Kings Most Excellent Majestie

The humble petition of Edward Hudson Clerke

Sheweth

That the Mastership of the hospitall of Gretam alias Gretham in the County of Durham, and the small Rectory of Croft in the Dioces of Chester lying within three miles of the other are voide by death, and in your Ma[jes]ties gift.

And whereas the pet[itione]r lost his sight in the last warre for his late sacred Ma[jes]tie and hes suffered many and long imprisonments, and other adversities through his constant Loyalty and fidelitie

May it please your Ma[jes]tie to bestow the premisses vpon the pet[itione]r, and to grant an order vnto the Right Hon[oura]ble the Lord Chancellor to passe these particulars immediatly vnder the great seale, with a pardon of Fees, and this first because of the pet[itione]rs present povertie, and secondly because of his blindnes, wherby it would be very tedious and troublesome for him to solicit the signet, and privie seale

And the pet[itione]r will dayly pray for your Ma[jes]ties Long peaceable, and prosperous reigne over ws [sic.].
