The petition of William Perry of Bratton, Wiltshire, undated

To the Right wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the Peace for the County of Wiltes[hire] assembled att the Quarter Sessions att Warminster
The humble petic[i]on of W[illia]m Perry late of Bratton in the County of Wiltes[hire]
Humbly sheweth
That yo[u]r petic[i]oner att the tyme when S[i]r Edward Hungerford bore Armes for the Parlyam[en]t yo[u]r petic[i]oner tooke vpp armes vnder him att the Devizes in the said County of Wiltes[hire] & was afterwards reduced vnder Collonell Ludlowe att Warder Castle where hee was blowne vpp & maymed w[i]th powder as by his affidavit herenvnto annexed may appeare
That yo[u]r petic[i]oner hath faithfully s[er]ved the State vnder the Com[m]aund of Collonell Ludlowe as dragooner & in the said s[er]vice received Certayne wounds (viz) hee hath lost the vse of his left Arme, & had the Tooes of his left foote broken, & alsoe his lefte legge by meanes whereof hee is vtterly disabled to take paynes for a livelyhood for himselfe & his wife as will alsoe appeare by a Certificate vnder the hand of the said Collonell Ludlowe herevnto alsoe annexed
That the Tre[asure]rs to the States by their Certificate herevnto likewise annexed doe Certefie that yo[u]r petic[i]oner hath ben s[ear]ched by most of the Chirurgions in the hospitalls & by them found to bee a maymed man for ever
The pr[e]misses Considered yo[u]r petic[i]oner desires yo[u]r wor[shi]pps to allowe him some yearely penc[i]on or to give him such other maintenance as the Ordinance of Parlyam[en]t in that behalfe made & p[ro]vided directs
And yo[u]r petic[i]oner as in duty bound shall dayly pray &c
all[ocate] 20 s. for pr[e]sent releiffe & 4 li. quarterly from Th[reasur]er of the south.
