To the Right Wor[ship]full his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the Peace of the County aforesaid att the Generall Sessions of the Peace held for the County aforesaid held att the Castle of Exon the 15th day of January 1683
The humble petic[i]on of Robert Cooke of the p[ar]ish of lydford in the said County
Humbly sheweth
That yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner being a souldier in the late unhappy Warr under the Com[m]and of Capt[ain] Bidlake in the service of his late Martered Ma[jes]ties King Charles the First of Blessed memory and did never desert his said Ma[jes]ties Service but Faithfull served in that war to the end, in which war yo[u]r Peticoner was greviously wounded yett notwithstanding these wounds yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner hath heitherto honestly endeauoured to maintayne himselfe & Family and hath hitherto continuewed Faithfull & Loyall to his pr[e]sent Ma[jes]tie & Gouerm[en]t And now being growne old and his said wounds doth now soe much afflict him that he is utterly unable to gett his mayntenance, the pr[e]mises considered yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner doth humbly pray yo[u]r Worsh[i]pp to grant him an yearly Pention such as in yo[u]r Wors[hi]pps wisdom & goodnes shall judge meet for his releife & comfort in his old age & Languishing condic[i]on
And yo[u]r poore peticoner shall ever pray as in duty he is bound &c
