The certificate for Trooper Timothy Newbie, Adrian Scroop’s Regiment, 19 October 1648

Theise are to certifie all whom itt may concerne,

Yt

Timothy Newbie came unto mee from the Army in the North under the Command of Levttenant Generall Cromwell, where hee receiued a sore wound in his hand, the which for want of good dressing did fester amongst ye bones & sinewes, so yt itt brake forth in diuerse places to the endangering of the losse of his whole hand. However by the blessing of Almightie God the wound is p[er]fectlie whole, ytt itt beeing so far ulcerated & festred amongst the bones, itt is a weake, imperfect, & maimed member, the use of his middle finger beeing utterly lost, & the rest very feeble, itt beeing a long time betweene the hurt received, & my first dressing of itt. This much I thought good to Certifie beeing thereunto required.

October, this 19th 1648.
