This is to Certifie that Thomas Chapman Champion Souldier in my Comp[any] in Col[one]l Hewson Reg[i]m[en]t hath actually and faithfully Serued the parliam[en]t And in the fight of Maidstone in Kent he was wounded: wich maks him vnable of further Seruis; Thairfore I Humble recommend him to the Justisses of ye peace in the County of Wilks [sic.], to take care for his Subsistance according to ordinance of parliam[en]t prouided for such charitable ends. And the said Thomas Champion is Freely discaryed from this employment. Giuen vnder my hand this 7o May 1649
