The second petition of Edward Bradley of Horbury, West Riding of Yorkshire, April 1675

To the Worshipfull the Justices of the Peace for the West Rydinge of Yorkshire

The humble Petic[i]on of Edward Bradley of Horbury gentl[eman] Captaine of a foote Companie in his late Ma[jes]t[y]s service in the Regiament of S[i]r Tymothy Fetherstonehaugh

Sheweth

That yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r served his late Ma[jes]tie of Ever blessed memorie in that vnhappie warr from the first of his Ma[jes]t[y]s person desertinge the Parliament for his safetie vntill his Marterdome never revoltinge but ever since continuinge faithfull and loyall to his Ma[jes]tie that now is whose sufferinges hath beene great in p[er]son and estate by sundry hard Imprisonments besides diverses hurts and wounds in the said service By reason whereof yo[u]r Petic[i]oner in his declinenge yeares is fallen into many infirmities of body soe that he is not in a Capacitye to follow any imployment (yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r as yet never receiving any recompense for his said service but as an Indigent officer) he haueinge a great Charge of diseased Children.

Humbly requests That yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps would be pleased to take his Condic[i]on into Considerac[i]on And that such a Penc[i]on may yearely be allowed him (accordinge to his quallitie) as in yo[u]r grave Wisdomes shal be thought fittinge.

And yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r shal be ever bound to pray for your Worr[shi]ps

<Wee conceive the Petic[i]on[e]rs sufferings to be great and bele{ve} of the Petic[i]on to be true therefore you would doe an {illegible} to releive the Petic[i]on[e]r accordinge to his request in some {illegible} accordinge to his sadde condition>
