To ye R[igh]t Honerable his ma[jes]ties Justice of ye peace att their generall quarter session holden at Manchester this Eleventh day of May Anno dom[in]j 1671

The humble pettic[i]on of ye ou[er]seers of ye poore & others ye Inhabitants of Stretford

Humblely sheweth

That one Robert Edge of Stretford aforesaid haveing formerly served his late ma[jes]ties in the Late warres and haveing alsoe Received the sume of Twentie five shillings a yeare as a pensioner from the treasurer of such money as was to yt end appointed, but of late yeares the same money hath not beene paid him but a great p[ar]t thereof withoulden from him for what Reason is not to vs knowne but ye said Robert beinge debarred of his Former allowance did at ye last quarter session here holden, obtaine an order for six pence a weeke to bee paid him by vs the ou[er]seers of ye power poore  out of the towne aforesaid, which order wee have Fully obeyed and observed, yett there being such a number of poore which have sev[er]all weekely allowance besids him soe yt the towne is scarse able to vndergoe the same.
