The petition on behalf of Andrew Smyth of Mere, Wiltshire, Trinity 1652

To the Right Wo[rshipfu]ll the Justices of Peace nowe sittinge at Warmi[n]ster:
The humble Petic[i]on of the Inhabitants of Meere:
Humbly sheweth:
That Easter Sessions: 1651: this Courte was pleased to allowe yo[u]r Pet[itione]rs the sum of Forty shillings towards the maintenance of one Andrew Smyth of o[u]r p[ar]ish out of the Tresury of maymed Soldiers w[hi]ch said Order, was [illegible] renewed to yo[u]r Pet[itione]rs at xpmas Sessions followinge, for 40 s. more, towards his releife, and findinge that by meanes of his desease, wee are in noe way able to releive him accordinge to his necessity; by reason of soe many poore within o[u]r said p[ar]ish; and that yo[u]r Petic[i]on[er]s haue received noethinge since xpmas Sessions laste to the greate Burthen of yo[u]r Pet[itione]rs.
Our humble P desire therefore to this ho[noura]ble Court is that yow would bee pleased to grante yo[u]r Pet[itione]rs an Order, that a yerely penc[i]on may bee paid quarterly by the said Tre[asure]r towards the releife of the said Smyth
And yo[u]r pet[itione]rs shall ever pray &c:
xx s. all for this time onely to bee paid by the Tr[easure]r of the south p[ar]te of this County.
