The petition of William Hoult of Preston, Cheshire, Michaelmas 1662

To the Right Honno[ur]abl[e]s his Maiesties Justices of the peace for thie Countie
The humble petecion of Willia[m] Hoult
Sheweth
That your petecioner serued his Late Maiestie of England in those inhumaine warrs raised against him, As a private sould[ie]r in Sir Thomas Aston one Regiment in Captaine Flemmings troope for the space of foure years and a halfe and receiued Litle or noe pay But Contracted vnto him selfe some debts to maintaine himselfe in the service Besides hee gott into his bodie An extreame Could by lying in the open feild in the Extreametie of weather hath caused great Aches and paines in his Limbes and Joynts That hee his theire by sore troubled at Change of weather to follow his dayly Labor, hee haueing nothing els to subsist or Live vppon to maintaine him selfe his wife and three small Childeren but his dayly Labour, so that hee hath bin exposed to great hardshipp, yet would hee never disert his Maiesties service but hath bin ever true and faithfull theirein, and still doth Continue in the same if required theire vnto, to Lay downe his life for his Maiestie that now is Wee whoes names are h{ere} vnder subscribed doe Certifie your Honno[u]rs And {that} they premises here of to bee true
May it theirefore please your Hon{ours to take the} premises hereof into your wise J{udicious} Consideraciones of some way or M {illegible} ayding and Assisting for they releif {of} your poore petecioner his wife a{nd children}
