The petition of William Geareman of Bradninch, Devon, Michaelmas 1663

To the right wor[shipfu]ll his ma[jes]ties Justices [Just] of the Peace at the Gen[er]all Quarter Sessions for the Count[y] of Devon now Assembled.
The humble Petic[i]on of William Gearman of Bradninch husbondman.
<Sheweth>
That yo[u]r peticon[er] during the Late Unhappy warr, yo[u]r peticon[er] served his Late ma[jes]tie of Ever blessed memory, as a Foot souldier under the Command of Liftennant Collonell Payne Against the Towne of Plymouth, where yo[u]r peticon[er] received many dangerous wounds whereby your peticon[er] is decrippate in his Body and not able to Labour for his Liveinge, haveing nothing to subsist one, is in greate Poverty and want, hee ever being Loyall to his Late ma[jes]tie, and his ma[jes]tie that now is.
Hee therefore humbly prayeth yo[u]r wor[shi]pps in tender Considerac[i]on of the p[re]misses, your wo[shi]pps would be pleased to Admitt yo[u]r peticon[er] to receive a penc[i]on of his ma[jes]ties Treasuror Ordayned for Maymed Souldiers, yo[u]r peticon[er] being Aged and by reason of his many & dangerous wounds not able to Gitt his Living desires Favour herein.
