There are to Certifie unto all whome it may concerne, That the barer hereof William Geareman of Bradninch in the County of Devon husbandman served as a Foot Souldier against Plymouth under the Commaund of Leutennant Collonell Pyne, in our late Kings Ma[jes]ties service, wheare hee received sev[er]all shots and Cutts in his body very daungerous to his mahayming, whereby hee is disabled to worke for his subsistence, as appears by his wounds and mayhams apparent to be seene, And also that hee hath been ever Loyall and faithfull in his Ma[jes]ties service, and never ingaged in any other service since the beginning of the late unhappy warr, And wee doe therefore humbly conceive him a fitt man to receive his ma[jes]ties yearely penc[i]on for his subsistence. As one of his ma[jes]t[ie]s mayhaymed souldiers, In testimony of w[hi]ch p[re]misses wee have hereunto subscribed our names the 15th day of July Anno domini 1663.
