To the hono[ura]ble Committee for the Army

The humble petic[i]on of Walter Parkhurst

Sheweth

That your peticoner hath with much fidelitie and integritie served the Parliam[en]t for the Space of six yeares and vpwards and last of all vnder the Comaund of his Excellencie the Lord Fairfax, in Captaine John Farmers Troope of Dragoones in Collonell Okeys Regiment since the new modell for w[hi]ch your petic[i]oners p[ar]ticuler Service, there are Arreres dew vnto your petic[i]oner, whose Accompt is already Audited and stated but not Certifyed by the Muster master gen[er]all of horse w[hi]ch your petic[i]oner humbly Conceiveth ought to haue beene paid him at his disbandinge:

Soe it is may it please this ho[noura]ble Com[m]ittee that your petic[i]oner is infirme in his body through mames hurts and bruises in the said service and is at this instant vnder Cure and hath buried his wife since the said disbandinge, and is left very Comfortlesse with a Charge of Children and is at this present in great distresse and penurie and likely to fall into great misery vnlesse this ho[noura]ble Com[m]ittee extend your favours to him for the paym[en]t of his Arreres

Your peticoner doth in all humilitie (the premisses Considered) beseech this ho[noura]ble Com[m]ittee (who haue beene pleased to releeue divers of his fellow Souldiers in the like Case, by ordering them moneys at the Treasury in Guildhall) to grant your Warrant to the Muster Maister or Treasurer generall to Certifie your petic[i]on[er’]s Accompt to this ho[noura]ble Com[m]ittee, and therevppon to grant your order for payment of your petic[i]on[er’]s Arreres and

And your petic[i]on[er] shall ever pray for this ho[noura]ble Committee &c.

I affirme the Contents of this petic[i]on as touchinge the performance of the Service pauvertie and great Charge to bee true

The bearer hereof Walter Parkhurst hath bin for some months past, and still is, vnder cure of a desease in ye bladder, contracted by severall bruises, and hurts in ye parliam[en]ts busines.

<At the Com[mit]tee of Lords & Com[m]ons for the Army. 17o Martij 1648.>

<Ordered:>

<That the Com[missa]ry generall of the Musters or his Deputy doe forthwith certifie to this Com[mit]tee howe the Pet[itione]r stands vpon the seu[er]all Musters of the Army: And doe affix the same to this Petic[i]on.>
