The petition of Ursula Clarke, residence unknown, 12 February 1649

<Petic[i]on of Vrsula Clarke.>
To ye Right Hono[ura]ble ye Com[m]ittee for ye Army.
The humble petic[i]on of Ursula Clarke Aunt & Administratrix of John N Northcott L[ieutenan]t to Capt[ain] Henry Cromwell of Col[one]l Harrisons Reg[imen]t.
Shewing that yo[u]r pet[itione]rs kinsman hath faithfully serued ye Parl[iamen]t from the begin[n]ing in ye Army of his Ex[cellen]cie the Lord Fairfax first as Cornett to Major Finchers Troope in Col[one]l Sheffeilds Regim[en]t from the 5th of Aprill 1645 to ye 14o of June 1647 & afterwards as L[ieutenan]t to Capt[ain] Henry Cromwells Troope in Col[one]l Harrisons Regim[en]t from the 14th of June 1647 to the 16th of July 1648 whoe was then slayne vpon the Engagem[en]t ag[ains]t the Scotts att Appleby as by Certificate vnder Major Raineborowes hands appeareth of Colonell Harrison, Major Rayneborow & Capt[ain] Cromwell appeareth
In regard of w[hi]ch yo[u]r pet[itione]rs kinsman haueing some arreares due for his seruice & haueing left behinde him many small & young Children, whoe are left to yo[u]r pet[itione]rs care, that there is litle besides for their maynetenance, but their deceased Fathers arreares. In considerac[i]on whereof yo[u]r pet[itione]r humbly prayeth yo[u]r Hono[u]rs to giue order for the stateing of his accompts & paym[en]t of his arreares accordingly.
And shee shall pray &c.

<That ye Com[m]issary Gen[era]ll of ye Musters or his Deputy doe forthwith certify this Com[mi]ttee how ye pet[itione]rs kinseman within named John Northcott (whoe was slayne in ye seruice against the Scotts) stands vpon the seu[er]all Musters of ye Army & doe affix the same to this petic[i]on.>
