To the r[igh]t wor[shi]pp[fu]ll his ma[jes]ties Justices of peace at the publique & gen[er]all quarter sessions held at Orm[skir]ke for the hundred of West derby & Leyland
The humble petic[i]on of Thomas Whalley of Lathome a poore Maymed & indigent Soldier who served his Ma[jes]tie and his Royall father in the Late warrs.
Sheweth this Ho[noura]ble Court beinge fully satisfyed and therefore Compassionate of your pet[itio]n[e]rs condic[i]on did formerly allowe him the yearely sum[m]e of tenn shillings, the same to bee paid him yearly dureinge his life, by the Treasurer of the maimed souldiers for Derby hundred for the tyme beinge since which tyme your petic[i]oner is growne more aged & Impotent, And alsoe sev[e]rall maimed Souldiers who had like allowance are dead.
Your petic[i]oner therefore humbly prayes an Augmentac[i]on of his said allowance as your Wo[rshi]pps shall thinke proporc[i]onable to his age and Impotency with [illegible] respect to the increase of the stocke by the decease of sev[er]all who had allowances And your petic[i]oner as in duty bound will ever pray.
