The petition of Thomas Roberts of Ruthin, Denbighshire (2), 14 January 1668

To the Right Woor[shipfu]l the Kings Ma[jes]t[y]s Justices of the peace at this pr[e]sent Generall Sessions.
The humble petic[i]on of Thomas Roberts of Ruthin
Sheweinge yo[u]r wor[shi]ps that yo[u]r petic[i]oner hath beene in actuall Armes in his Ma[jes]t[y]s service vnder the Comande of Maior Generall Gerard Capt[ain] Wyndebanke & other officers in his said Ma[jes]t[y]s Armye from the Battell att Eadge hill to the battell att Nasbye All w[hi]ch Continued for many yeares as It is well knowen & alsoe further Sheweth that dureinge the said tyme yo[u]r pet[itione]r hath beene seu[er]all tymes ymprisoned by the vsurpant p[ar]ties & wounded in the field w[hi]ch disabled yo[u]r pet[itione]r to earne his liveinge & lost his eyeseight by powder blowne in Oxford all this considered may move yo[u]r wor[ship]s to Comisserat yo[u]r pet[itione]r beinge a fitt obiect of Charity to be releeved
Most humbly prayeinge yo[u]r wor[ship]s to admitt yo[u]r pet[itione]r a penc[i]oner to receave a share of his Ma[jes]t[y]s alloweance to Maymed Souldiers in this Countie & to order what sum that yo[u]r wor[ship]s thinke meete for yo[u]r poore {illegible}ing noe other releefe but the {illegible} people {illegible}
