The petition of Thomas Prest of Bridestowe, Devon, 1687

To the Right Worshippf[u]ll and Honorable his majesties Justices of the peace for the County of Devon aforesaid att the Generall Sessions of the peace to be holden for the said County the [blank] day of [blank] Anno Regni Regis Jacobi 2di nunc Angliae &c Tertio Annoq[ue] Domini 1687.

The Humble Petition of Thomas Prest of Bridestowe in the said County Husbandman.

<Humbly sheweth.>

That yo[u]r Petitioner being a souldier in his [illegible] Majesties service King Charles the first of ever Blessed memory under Captaine Bidlake in the Regiment of the Honourable Sir Nicholas Slanning deceased and having Received severall dangerous wounds suffered long imprisonment for his loyalty, and being now above sixty years of age and unable to get his Liveing, and having never deserted the said service.

May it therefore please your Hon[n]ours the pr[e]misses Considered to order such pension for the Releife of yo[u]r Petitioner as to yo[u]r Hon[n]ours shall seem fitt & yo[u]r Petitioner shall ever pray &c
