The petition of Thomas Marshall of Thorverton, Devon, April 1684

To the Right Worshipfull Samuell Senthill esq[ui]r[e] one of his mai[es]tis Justies of the peace for the Countie of Deuon & vnto All other of his mai[es]tis Justises of the peace for the Countie afores[ai]d att For att the quar[ter] Sessions hee Aprill 1684
Humbly Sheweth
That whereas your poore petitioner Thomas Marshall of the p[ar]ish of Thoru[er]ton in the Countie afores[ai]d serued his Late Mai[es]tie king Charles the first of blessed memorie vnder the Comaund of Captaine Drake & some time vnder the Comaund of Coronell Bluett esq[ui]r[e] of this Coun[tie] where I receiued the Lost of one Eye & Lay in prison in London a prisoner for six monthes Time & in Exon fiue & Twentie Weekes to the great Lost & damages of your poore petitioner & haueinge but Twentie Shillinges a yeare pention the humbell request of your petitioner is that you would be Graciously pleas[e]d to Ad to the releife of your poore distressed petitioner who shall euer be bound to pray for your Worships
