The petition of Thomas Marshall of Thorverton, Devon, 7 June 1660

To the Right Wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the Bench at the Generall Sessions held for the sayd County

The humble Petic[i]on of Thomas Marshall of the parish of Thoru[e]rton

Humbly sheweth

That yo[u]r poore petic[i]on[e]r was a Souldier in the late Kings Ma[jes]ties service, & in that service lost one of his Eyes & was twice shott in the body w[hi]ch is yet to be seen, wherevpon (being a very poore man & disabled to worke for his Living) there was a Pension given to him to be paid quarterly during his Life: but the times altering, yo[u]r pet[itione]rs Pension hath been kept from him full fourteen yeares, by Reason whereof he is in great want & necessity.

Wherefore he humbly imploreth yo[u]r worshipps to Com[m]iserate his poore & deplorable Condic[i]on, & out of yo[u]r Tender Compassions & to relieve him in this his distressed state

And he shall ever pray &c.

These may Certifie whom it may conc[er]ne That Tho[mas] Marshall of Tharuarton in ye County of deuon was a soldier vnder my Com[m]and in his late Ma[jes]ties Seruice in the Regim[en]t belongeing to Henry Cary of Cotington in the County of deuon for the Space of 2 yeares and was Sargent of my Company Witnesse my hand the 7th of June 1660
