The petition of Thomas Latimore of Cricklade, Wiltshire, Michaelmas 1672

To ye Hono[ura]ble his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace for The Countie of Wilts[hire]
The humble petition of Maior Tho[mas] Latimore
Humbly Sheweth
That y[ou]r petitioner beinge a maior in ye Reg[i]ment of Col[one]l John Ackland and vnder ye comand of ye Lord Hopton in ye servis of his late Ma[jes]tie King Charles the first of glorius memorie and therin and in other servises manifested his Loyaltie to his said Ma[jes]tie as in duty bound and alsoe his servisses and sufferings in the said servis as by his severall certificats herevnto annexed doth fully appeare and beinge borne and breed [sic.] vp in the Burrough of Cricklad in ye countie of Wilts[hire] as by a certificate herevnto annexed doth appeare and haueinge bene ever since the restoration of his sacred Ma[jes]tie vnwillinge to be burthensom to his natiue countie soe long as either the releefe of friends or industry in himselfe could maintaine him and his wife (though very meanly) but now beinge past labore and reduced to great want and necessitie he is forced to craue y[ou]r Hono[u]rs assistance by granting him such pention as to y[ou]r Hono[u]rs shall seeme meet and as by vertue of ye Acte of Parliment you are impowered to doe that therby himselfe and aged wife may be preserved from perishinge which otherwise will vndoubtedly follow, Humbly beginge y[ou]r hono[u]rs to take his sad case into y[ou]r serius consideration that he may haue some speedie releefe.
And y[ou]r Petitio[ne]r as in duty bound shall ever pray &c.
