The petition of Thomas Jackson of Aston, Cheshire, Michaelmas 1662

To the hon[oura]ble and Right Wor[shipfu]ll the Comic[i]oners appoynted by his most gratious ma[jes]tty for the releeueing of the poore distressed souldiers.
The humble petic[i]on of Thomas Jackson of Aston.
Sheweth.
That yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r at the beginning of the first warrs did take vpp Armes w[i]th king Charles the first of famous memorie at Edge hill Battell and for the space of foure yeares after did continue a faithfull souldier for his said ma[jes]ttie vnd[e]r the Com[m]and of S[i]r James Bridgman in the Regement of S[i]r Thomas Aston of Aston Barronett neu[e]r of of all the said tyme receaueing anie pay or recompence for his seruise not since and now yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r being fallen into great pou[e]rtie haueing noe meanes to subsist of being at the pr[e]sent destitute and hopeless of anie releeffe
May it therefore please yo[u]r hon[ou]rs to grant him some ord[e]r for some p[ar]t of his pay and for the same he yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r will eu[e]r pray (as in dutie bownd) for yo[u]r hon[ou]rs health happinesse and Eternall felicitie.
<Moreou[e]r yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r liuing in Cornewall was pr[e]sed to Woster fight and denying to goe w[i]th the vsurp[er] was put in prison for 3 moneths he being now readie to testifie the same vppon oathe.>
