The petition of Thomas Cowpland of Barwick in Elmet, West Riding of Yorkshire, July 1675

To The Right Worshipfull, his Ma[jes]ties Justices of Peace for the West Riding of the County of Yorke.
The humble petition of Thomas Cowpland of Barwicke in Elmett.
Humbly sheweth
That your petitioner was a souldier vnder the Worship[fu]ll S[i]r Richard Hutton owne Company of foott, and was w[i]th him at Wakefeild, Atherton, & Bradford, feights and also vnder ye Wor[shi]pp[fu]ll S[i]r Walter Vavasor Regimentt of Horse in Capt[ain] Adam Bland Troop of Horse, & was at ye sige of Kingston vpon Hull, att Selbye fight, Bowton Berney, Leapoul, in Lancastershire, and also at Hassome moore fight, where he receiued Divers woundes, in his thighs, Leggs and Body, and hath ever been faithfull and Loyall to his Ma[jes]ty (& still continues a souldier in the warres of his Ma[jes]ties), & his Royall Father of ever Blessed memory humbly desires to be admited a pentioner for his said services, what you in your Grave Wisdomes shall thinke fitting.
And your petitioner as in Duty bound shall dayly pray &c
