These are to Certifie his Ma[jes]ties Justices of Peace for the West Riding of the County of Yorke that Thomas Cowpland, was a souldier for his late Ma[jes]tye KING Charles the first from the first beginning of late warr vntill (Haso[m]more fieght) or Marston more fieght in ye Right Worship[fu]ll S[i]r Richard Huttons Regiment of foot & S[i]r Walter Vavasor Regiment of Horse, And hath ever been faithfull and Loyall, to his Majestie & his Royall father, of ever Blessed memory; And yt he the said Thomas Cowpland is very poor, and Indigent, All which wee humbly Certifye vnder our hands the second day of July in the xxvijth yeare of his Ma[jes]ty Raigne Charles ye second, over England, Scotland, France & Ireland, King, defender of the Faith, &c., Anno Dom[ini] 1675.
