The petition of Thomas ap Richard of Nefyn, Carnarvonshire, 1660

To the right wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the peace now sitting att the Quarter Sessions for the Cou[n]ty aforesaid:
The Humble pettition of Thomas ap Richard of Nevin in the County aforeas[ai]d.
Humbly sheweth
That your pettitioner hath beene & serued his late ma[jes]tie in England [illegible] for the space of 4 yeares and was sore wounded att the Battle in Chisister & was taken prissoner att Nasseby fight And there had Close imprisonm[en]t for the space of 14 weekes & from thence was sent over to the King of Spaine where he hath beene [illegible] prisoner for Souldier fiue yeares (as itt appeares in the Certificate herevnto annexed he being pressed out of the Towne of Nevyn And vnder the Com[m]and & in the Regiment of S[i]r Jo[h]n Owens & Capt[ain] Hugh Hookes of Conwey dureing the vnhappie late warres in England And withall hadd & receaued many shotts sore & grieuous woundes in seu[er]all parts of his body And is thereby made vnable to worke or labour for his liuelihood &c.
Now your pettitioners Humble request vnto your wor[shi]pps is that your wor[shi]pps will be pleased & the premisses duely Considered to admitt & allowe your petitioner to haue & receaue the relieffe salary or quarterly stipend by Law p[ro]uided for poore maymed souldiers in such Case or otherwise to allow him what your wor[shi]pps shall thinke fitt & agreeable to Equity & good conscience &c.
