The petition of Robert Prince of Barwick in Elmet, West Riding of Yorkshire, October 1672

To the Right Worshipfull His Majesties Justices of the Peace for the West Riding of the County of Yorke

The Humble petition of Robert Prince of Barwicke in Elmett w[i]thin the said Riding

Humbly Sheweth

That your petitioner was a Souldier for his late Majesty of Blessed memory vnder the Right honorable John Lord Bellasses Regim[en]t of foot in Captain Udals Company att Edgehill battle, as also in Captaine Thwengs Troope in S[i]r Walter Vavasours Regiment, as also at Pontefract Castle in Captain Musgraues Troop in Sir John Ridmans Regiment, during which time he receiued divers hurts, and now being aged above sixty two yeares and growne very poor, desires that some pension may be yearly settled vpon him, as your grave Judgements shall think most fitting

And your petitioner shall humbly pray &c.

We the inhabitants within the parish of Barwicke in Elmett do humbly Certify that wee verily beleive the contents of the above petition to be true, and that we know the said petitioner never revolted, but always continued faithfull to his late Majestyes service.
