The petition of Richard Lathey, Sussex, January 1655

To the wor[shi]pp[fu]ll the Justices of the peace sitting att Arrundell.
The humble petition of Richard Lathey.
Humbly sheweth that whereas yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r was imprest for the service in Ireland who went & continued there about the space of twoe yeares and a halfe and there received a greate hurt in fight, for he was run through the body vnder the arme that it doth soe paine him oftentymes that he is not able to followe his labor & is thereby vndone
In tender considerac[i]on whereof he humbly craveth yo[u]r wor[shi]pps wil be pleased to take it into yo[u]r serious considerac[i]ons the said and deplorable estate yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r is in and to graunt him some smale pention for his livelyhood as other maimed souldiers have.
And yo[u]r pet[itione]r shall dayly pray &c.
Ordered that a penc[i]on of xx s. A yeare be allowed to Rich[ard] Lathey a maymed souldier to be payd quarterly by the Tre[asure]r for maymed Souldiers till further order the first paym[en]t to begin at this pr[e]sent Sessions.
