To the Wor[shi]p[fu]ll the Justices of the Peace at the next gen[er]all Quarter Sessions of the peace to be holden for the Westerne parte of this County sittinge at Arundell the 11th day of January 1657
The humble Petic[i]on of Richard Cole of Eastdeane a Maymed Souldier
Humbly Sheweth
That yo[u]r Pet[itione]r haued serued the Commonwealth wealth in the Garison of Chichester and elsewhere vnder the Com[m]and of Col[one]l Stapley and Col[one]l Sidney by the space of five years, And since that hath serued the Com[m]onwealth in Ireland vnder the Com[m]and of Col[one]l Sanders by the space of five years more dureing w[hi]ch tyme yo[u]r Pet[itione]r hath receiued much hurte in his body and endured much hardshipp insoemuch that hee is altogether vnable to mainetayne himselfe and wife and three Children by his Labour, his wife haueing in his absence beene Constrayned to sell all his goods and Tooles to maintaine herselfe and Children
Therefore yo[u]r Pet[itione]r humbly Prayes yo[u]r Wor[shi]ps seariously to Considder the pr[e]misses and grant him a Penc[i]on out of yo[u]r Treasury for Maimed souldiers whereby his necessityes may in part be releived
And yo[u]r Pet[itione]r shall eve[r] pray &c.
