The petition of Oliver Simpson of Woodford, Cheshire, 22 January 1650

To the right wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the Peace assembled at the Quarter Sessions held for this County at Chester January 22 1649
The humble petic[i]on of Oliuer Simpson of Widford
Sheweth
That yo[u]r pet[itione]r was a souldier under the Command of Major Henry Bradshawe in Colonell Duckenfields Regim[en]t of foot and in the Leaguer before this City was wounded by the enemy of w[hi]ch wounds he is not cured but disabled to get his liueing as formerly (as appeares by a Certificate hereunto annexed) and is likely to starue unles releeued by yo[u]r good wor[sh]ips.
May it therefore please yo[u]r good wor[sh]ips the pr[e]misses considered to admit yo[u]r pet[itione]r a pention[e]r and to allow him such mantenance as in yo[u]r wisdomes upon sight of his wounds you shall thinke fitt.
And as in duty bound he will pray.
