The petition of Mary Grimsditch, residence unknown, 21 December 1648

To the hon[oura]ble the Com[m]itt[ee] of the Army
The humble peticon of Mary the widdowe of Hannyball Grimsditch & Admi[nist]r[atri]x.
Sheweth
That your petitc[i]o[ne]rs Late husband hath Faithfully serued the Parliament as a priuate souldier in Capt[ain] Pooleys Company in the Regim[en]t of Collonell Fortescue and afterwardes Col[one]l Barkesteads in his Excellencie the Lord Fairfax Army, as by the Certificate hearvnto Annexed doth appeare and that he was slaine in the said seruice haueing left your petic[i]oner quite destitute of releife haueing neither house or home, and hath since his death pawned and sould all that euer she hath and is now redy to perish.
Yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]rs humble desire is that your hon[ou]rs would be pleased to Order her said husbands accompts to be stated and forthwith to pay vnto yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r what shall appeare therevpon to be due to releeue her in this her perishing Condic[i]on.
And your petic[i]on[e]r shall euer be bound to pray for yo[u]r hon[ou]rs &c.

<That ye Com[m]issary Generall of ye Musters or his Deputy doe forthwith certify this Com[m]ittee how ye pet[itione]rs husband Hanniball Grimsditch whoe was slayne in the parliam[en]ts service stands vpon the seuerall Musters of ye Army & doe affix the same to this petic[i]on>
