The petition of Martha Burgh, residence unknown, 21 December 1648

To the hon[oura]ble the Com[m]ittee of the Army.
The humble petic[i]on of Martha Burgh late wife & Adm[inist]r[atri]x of L[ieutenan]t Tho[mas] Burgh.
Sheweth
That yo[u]r peti[tione]rs Late husband hath faithfully serued the Parliament as Ensigne to Collonell Grayes Company in Col[one]l Floydes Regiment in the Earle of Essex Army and as Leiftennt to that Company whearof Col[one]l Harbert was Capt[ain] in the Armye vnder the Comaund of his Excellencie the Lord Fairfax as by the Certificate heare vnto Annexed doth appeare till the seidge at Bristoll wheare yo[u]r petic[ione]rs said husband was slaine and hath left your peti[cione]r with a poore Child in a destresed Condic[i]on
Your peticoners most humble Request to yo[u]r hon[ou]rs is that you would be pleased to send Order for the staiteing of her Late husbands Accompts that thereby she may receiue the benefitt of what shall appeare due upon the same to releeue her and her poore Child from sterueing.
And your petic[ione]r as in dutye bound shall euer pray &c.

<That ye Com[m]issary Generall of ye Musters or his Deputy doe forthwith certify this Com[m]ittee how ye pet[itione]rs husband L[ieutenan]t Thomas Burgh whoe was slayne in the seruice of ye parl[iamen]t stands vpon the seu[er]all Musters of ye Army & doe affix the same to this petic[i]on.>
