The petition of Margret Davenport of Leek, Staffordshire, April 1653

To the hono[ura]ble the Justices of the Peace for the County of Stafford.
The humble Petic[i]on of Margret Davenport in the County aforesaid Widow.
Humblie Sheweth
That whereas yo[u]r Petic[i]oners Husband was in actuall Service for the Parliament as Lieu[tenan]t of Foote, and two Sonnes w[i]th him as Souldiers in the said Service, who all dyed in the said service, to the great pr[e]iudice and impoverishing of yo[u]r Petic[i]oner, and yo[u]r Petic[i]oner not having any pension allowed her.
Wherefore (the pr[e]misses seriouslie Considered) yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r humbly prayeth this hono[ura]ble Bench to issue out an Order whereby shee may Receiue the like pension allowed to other Widowes in the like Condic[i]on, or els a Somme of Money towards putting out a Sonne of yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]rs to [two illegible words] bee an Apprentice.
And yo[u]r Petic[i]oner shall ev[e]r pray &c.
