The petition of John Woodward of Easton Neston, Northamptonshire, 9 January 1677

To the R[igh]t hon[oura]ble and R[igh]t wors[hi]p[fu]ll the Justices of the peace for the County of North[amp]ton[shire].
The humble petic[i]on of John Woodward of Easton neare Tociter in this County of North[amp]ton[shire]
Humbly Sheweth
That your petic[i]oner served his late majesty of euer blessed memory as a Leiftennant in the Regiment of the R[igh]t hono[ura]ble James Earle of Northampton and receiued divers wounds in the said service; and since his Majesties happy restaurac[i]on hath continued to serve His s[ai]d majesty in the troope of the hono[ura]ble S[i]r Francis Compton, untill about a yeare last past, at w[hi]ch time he was forced to leaue the said troope, being, by reason of his said wounds become unable to performe any further service, whereupon your petic[i]oner is reduced to a very poore and low condic[i]on
Your petic[i]on[e]r therefore humbly praies that your hon[ou]rs will please to grant him an annuall pention for his life, and
he shall ever pray &c.

<It is desired thatt ye peticoner haue a penc[i]on of foure pounds by ye yeare to be paid by ye Treasurer of the west division.>
