The petition of John Bykerdyk of Salford, Lancashire, 23 January 1662

To The Right Worshippfull his Mai[es]ties Justices of Peace and Quor[u]m sittinge at Manchester for the Hundred of Salford
The humble petition of John Bykerdyk Late of Salford
Most humbly sheweth
That whereas yo[u]r petitioner about the moneth of July in the yeare of our Lord 1642 was an Inhabitant in Salford and for severall yeares before and in the afforesaid yeare 1642 was sent forth as a souldier as by the Certificate herevnto Annexed may vnto yo[u]r good wor[shi]pps appeare where hee received many and sundry wowndes and yo[u]r petitioner for feare of trouble Absented himself forth of Salford to his Great hurt and detrym[en]t now yo[u]r petitioner groweinge ould Feeble and vnfitt to worke is drawne into a sad and deplorable Condic[i]on And doth therefore Adresse himselfe to yo[u]r good wor[shi]pps for Redress herein.
Now yo[u]r petitioners humble requests are vnto yo[u]r good wor[shi]pps the pr[e]misses Considered to take some speedy Course for the Releife of yo[u]r poore distressed petitioner and his family in what {illegible} yo[u]r good wor[shi]pp or shall see{m} meete and yo[u]r petition{er will} as in duty Bownd ever pray &c.
