The certificate for John Bickerdyke of Salford, Lancashire, 23 January 1662

Theis may Certifie the wor[shi]ppfull his ma[jes]ties Justices of peace and Quor[u]m sittinge At Manchester for the hundred of Salford that the bearer hereof John Bickerdyke was a person inhabitinge in the towne of Salford in the Moneth of July in the yeare of our Lord 1642 and about that tyme was sent forth by the Command of S[i]r Alexand[e]r Radclyffe to serve as a soldier in his mai[es]tes late mai[es]tes service kinge Charles the first of ever Blessed memory. And that hee was a souldier at Edge hill fight and Brainford in the Regiment of the Hono[u]r[a]ble S[i]r Gilbert Gerrard in the Company of Capt[ain] Edward Asheton and alsoe at the fight of Brill on the Hill where and at Edgehill hee was very sore wounded. I myselfe beeinge an eye wittnes thereof As witness my hand and seale the twentith therd day of January Anno R[egni] R[egi]s Caroli S[ecun]di Anglie &c decimo tertio Anno Domini 1661.
