The petition of John Belt of Swaffham, Norfolk, 19 April 1659

To the Right wor[shi]pp[fu]ll the Justices of Peace at the Sessions of the peace holden at Kings Linne for the County of Norff[olk].
The Humble pet[ition] of John Belt of Swaffham in the County afores[ai]d
Sheweth
That your pet[itione]r For Diuerse yeares together Faithfully serued the Comonwealth in their seu[er]all Armyes in the late warres ag[ains]t the late Kinge and his p[ar]ty both in England and Ireland both as an officer & priuate soldyer, And Contributed both then and since his vtmost Endeauo[u]rs in his stac[i]on to pres[er]ue the peace thereof, And further beinge by reason of the aforesaid s[er]uices Disabled for Constant Bodily labor,
yo[u]r pet[itione]r Humbly prayes as a recompence for his s[ai]d s[er]uices and as an Incouragem[en]t to thos yt haue faithfully serued the Interest of the Comonwealth, yo[u]r wor[shi]pps would conferre vppon him the Imploym[en]t of M[aste]r or Keeper of Bridewell in Swaffham nowe void by the Death of Henry Harward late Keep[er] thereof
And yo[u]r pet[itione]r shall pray &c.
