The petition of Jane Jackman of Devizes, Wiltshire, 20 April 1658

To the right Wo[rshipfu]ll the Justices of the peace for the County of Wiltes[hire] att this generall Quarter Sessions.
The humble petic[i]on of Jane Jackman
Sheweth
That vpon a former petic[i]on (to this Court) asserting ye service & death of Jo[hn] Jackman (yo[u]r pet[itione]rs late husband) on the behalf of this Comonwealth in Irel[an]d, & his Highnes the Lord Protectors Certificate witnessing ye same, this Co[u]rt of a deepe Sence of the truth thereof & yo[u]r Pet[itione]rs sad & necessitous Condic[i]on (her said husband leaving her six children to mainteyne, (whereof three are impotent & vnable to get any thing at all towards theire maynten[a]nce by reason of sicknes & lamenes) were pleased to allowe her a yearly pension, part whereof hath since bin taken off
That in regard of her said chardge of children & the dearnes of theis hard tymes she & her said family are in as low & poore estate as ever
That by the losse of her said dec[ease]d husband yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r is altogeather dissabled to maynteyne herself & family.
In tender Considerac[i]on whereof yo[u]r Pet[itione]r humbly beseecheth yo[u]r wo[rshi]pps to bee pleased to order the allowance of some present releife out of the Tre[asu]ry according to yo[u]r W[orshi]pps graue & charitable judgments And yo[u]r Pet[itione]r (as in duty bound) shall daily Pray &c
5 li. for her pr[e]sent necessity to be paid by the treasurer of the Maimed Souldiers & marriners of the north p[ar]te
