The petition of Henry Gives of Kensworth, Hertfordshire, 1692

To ye Right worshipfull their Majesties Justices of ye peace for ye County of Hartford at theire general sessions held for ye s[ai]d County.
The humble petition of Henry Giues miller of ye parish of ye Kenisworth in ye s[ai]d County Sheweth yt he being now aboue eighty yeares old, & almost blind, & past his Labour & haueing nothing to mainetaine himselfe but a small pension of three pounds p[er] annum, for ye service he did his majesty King Charl’s ye first in the late civill wars, does beseech this honourable Bench that they wold be pleased to order and direct the Treasurer of this County to make him a farther and an Additionall payment of forty shillings p[er] annum more then what he now receiues; And your petitioner will ever pray for your worships &c.
Wee whose names are are [sic.] hereunto subscribed doe certifie yt we know ye aboue named Henry Giues, & doe beleeue yt ye contents of what he hath hath sett forth in this his saide petition is true.
