The petition of Henry Gives of Kensworth, Hertfordshire, 1693

To ye Right worshipfull his Majesties Justices of ye peace for ye County of Hartford

The humble petition of Henry Giues of ye parish of Kenisworth in ye County of Hartford sheweth yt ye saide Henry hath bin very industrious & laborious in his trade, but now by reason of his great age, being fourscore & almost blinde, is altogether uncapable of his trade, & having nothing to maintaine himselfe, but a small pension (for ye service he did his majesty (Charles ye first) in ye late civill warrs) of three score shillings p[er] annum doth humbly petition this honourable Court to make some small augmentation to it, & your petitioner will ever pray for your worships

Wee whose names are hereunto subscribed doe certifie that wee know ye aboue named Henry Giues, & doe beleeue that the contents of what he hath set forth in his saide petition is true
