The petition of Ellen Wetherall, residence unknown, 3 November 1648

To the right hono[oura]ble the Com[m]ittee for the Army
The humble petic[i]on of Ellen Wetherall Widow.
Most humbly sheweth
That yo[u]r poore petic[i]oners husband John Wetherall a souldier in the Troope of Captaine Beniamyn Burges, in the Regim[en]t of Colonell Horton: was lately most barbarously and cruelly murthered, in Cardigansheire, in South wales, by a partie of most savage wretches, as may appeare by the Certificate herevnto annexed, And hath left yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner, and a small Child comfortles, and voyd of all liuelyhood or subsistence: Vnles the Lord be pleased to moue yo[u]r bowells of Compassion, according to yo[u]r accustomed goodnes for which yo[u]r petic[i]oner humbly prayes,
That yo[u]r Lords wil be pleased to graunt yo[u]r order for the stating of yo[u]r poore petic[i]oners (murthered) husbands accompts, and paying such arreares as shall appeare to be due vnto him, vnto yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner, who thereby shall (with the poore fatherles Child) be preserved from perishing.

Att ye Com[m]ittee of Lords & Com[m]ons for the Army 3 Nouemb[er] 1648
Ordered.
That ye Com[m]issary Generall of ye Musters or his Deputy doe forthwith certify this Com[m]ittee how ye pet[itione]rs husband John Wetherall (who was murthered in Wales) stood vpon the Musters of ye Army & Doe affix the same to this petic[i]on.
