To the Kings most Excellent Ma[jes]tie

The humble Petic[i]on of Elizabeth Cary Widow.

Humbly sheweth

That your Peticon[e]r in the late generall Calamity hath (amongst others) suffered deeply for her affection and constant Loyalty to your Majesties late Royall father of glorious memory; And that your Peticon[e]r for her faithfull adhering (as well to your said Royall father as also to your Ma[jes]tie) hath indured many great and sharpe afflictions, by persecution, oppression, imprisonm[en]t & other cruelties by her sustained, & in particular her strict Imprisonme[n]t for her Service to his Majesty at the time of his glorious Martirdome.

In tender considerac[i]on whereof your Peticon[e]r most humbly supplicates that your most Royall Majesty will gratiously bee pleased to preferre her Sonne Peter Cary to <Page of the Confectionary, which is now voyd> some Place under your Ma[jes]tie who will bee faithfull to your Majesty, as also to conferre some thing on your peticon[e]r towards her support and livelyhood, shee being uery antient, impotent and past labour, & nothing to subsist on.

And she shall euer pray &c.
