The petition of Elinor Hollis of Heytesbury, Wiltshire, Easter 1657

<Wilts[hire] S[ession]s>
The humble petic[i]on of Elinor Hollis widd[ow] late wife of Roger Hollis of Heytesbury in the Countie of Wilts[hire]
Humbl{y} sheweth that yo[u]r petic[i]o[ne]rs husband was a faithfull souldier for many yeares togeither in the service of the Parliam[en]t and t{hr}ough his vnhappy fortune came of maimed whereby through his addresse att the gen[er]all q[ua]rter Sessions of the peace for this Countie It was orderred that the some of 13 s. 4 d. a quarter should bee duely paid him as a pension duringe his life The said Roger Hollis lately dyinge have lefte yo[u]r petic[i]o[n]er in debte and two small Children the eldest of them not Twoe yeares of age beeinge infirme and lame and th[e] other not three q[ua]rters olde whereby yo[u]r petic[i]o[n]er is vnable to subsist yo[u]r petic[i]o[n]er therefore doe humbly desire that yo[u]r this ho[noura]ble Court would bee pleased to renewe the former order that was setled on her husband that she may have the same pension for soe longe time as yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps shall thinke fitt whereby she may through gods blessinge bee in a capacity to breed vp her Two small children and to pay her late husbands debts And she shall dayly pray &c
