The petition of Edward Vyse of Bowers, Staffordshire, October 1675

To the Right Worsh[ip]f[u]ll his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace for the County of Stafford

The humble petic[i]on of Edward Vyse of Bowers in the County aforesaid Gentl[ema]n

Humbly sheweth vnto your Wor[shi]pps that whereas your petic[i]oner hath faithfully and actually served his late Ma[jes]tie Kinge Charles the first of blessed memory duringe all or most part of the late vnhappy wars, and hath for his Loyalty in his service and since the end of that warre endured severall times imprisonment & alsoe Banishment from his Callinge whereby he hath beene greatly impoverished and nowe beinge in yeares and by reason of the want of his sight and havinge but a very small estate he is vtterly vnable to maintaine himselfe and family.

Wherefore may it please your Wor[shi]ps to take into your serious Considerac[i]on the distressed Condic[i]on of your said petic[i]oner and to settle some yearely pention vpon him as to your Wor[shi]ps shall seeme meete and agreeable.

And your petic[i]oner shall ever pray &c.
