To the Right Wor[shi]p[fu]ll the Justices att the Generall sessions of the peace For the Countie of Stafford
<The humble petition of Edward Barker soldier>
These are to acquainte your Wor[shi]pps and humbly to implore your assistinge aid to the petitioners Request whoe hath bin a soldier For the states of Holland and the p[re]sent state of England allmost 40: yeares and beinge now vnfitte for further seruice am sent by my Liuetenant Collonell Biscoe into my owne Countrie & Towne of Walshall where I was Borne to Craue a pension according to the statute of the 43: of Eliz for the maintenance of old soldiers, w[hi]ch I humbly Intreate your worshipps to take into your Consideracons & to afford or assigne mee such pension as other soldiers haue in the like Case For w[hi]ch I will [?inmorcate] the almighty to make your wor[shi]pps dayes longelasting on on [sic.] Earth euerlasting in heauen.
