The first certificate for Edward Barker of Walsall, Staffordshire, 6 August 1655

These are to Certify whom it may Concerne that the Bearer hereof Edward Barker hath served as a souldier in my Comp[any] in S[i]r William Constables Regim[en]t for the space of three yeares and in that tyme did behaue himselfe faithfully and as became a souldier and was with me in the service of the Com[m]onwealth in Scotland; But hauing received an order form his Highness the Lord Protector for the reduceing of each Comp[any] of the aforesaid Regim[en]t to seauenty I haue by vertue thereof discharged this Bearer; And desire the Justices of the Peace of this County of Stafford that they would be pleased to allow him a pension according to the Statute of 43 of Eliz. Cap. 3 he being a disabled souldier and not capable of further service and therefore is to be allowed a pension according to the Statute aforesaid. Giuen vnder my hand and seal in Lynn this 6th daye of August 1655.
