The petition of Edward Ambry of Doddington, Isle of Ely, 1664

To ye right wor[shi]p[f]ull his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace now assembled at ye quarter Sessions at Ely holden for the Isle of Ely in the County [of] Cambridge.

The humble petic[i]on of Edward Ambry w[i]thin the parrish of Doddington in the Isle afores[ai]d.

<Sheweth>

That your petic[i]oner hath in the late unhappy warrs served his most gracious Ma[jes]tie Charles the first late king of ever blessed Memory under the Com[m]and of Col[one]l Saul and was for his good and faithfull service then imprisoned by Captain Husbands to his very great suff[e]ringe and utter impoverishm[en]t and further that your petic[i]oner also hath served ye kings most gracious Ma[jes]tie that now is some three yeares or thereabout under the hon[oura]ble Col[one]l Henry Farre and hath been all along very faithfull active and industrious to doe both their Ma[jes]ties best service that in him lay.

Wherefore (the pr[e]misses considered) your Pet[itione]rs humble suite is to your Wor[shi]ps that you will be pleased to vouchsafe your pet[itione]r the benifitt of the late Act of Parliam[en]t touching the indigent Caviliers, and to conferr a penc[i]on on him ye rather since over and above his utter impoverishm[en]t he is growne aged and decriped not able to worke more for a livelihood and to mainteyne his charge of wife and Children:

And your pet[itione]r shall ever pray.
