The petition of David Slugg of Westbury, Wiltshire, Hilary 1661

To the Right Worsh[i]pp[fu]ll his Ma[jes]ti[e]s Justisses of the Peace for the County of Wilts[hire] siting at New Sarum
The Humble peticion of Dauid Slugg of the p[ar]ish of Westbury in the County afores[ai]d
<Humbly> Sheweth that y[ou]r peti[ti]onor did for A long tyme serve his late ma[jes]tie King Charles the first of glorious memory as A soldier in the late wares And did sirue [sic.] his s[ai]d ma[jes]tie as A serg[e]ant for A long tyme very faythfully in w[hi]ch serviss in the sige before Lime vnder the Command of Collonell Joseph Bamfield y[ou]r poore petticionor Re[ei]ued Griueous wonds on his body as on his Right Arme & hand so that y[ou]r pettic[i]onor is thareby much disabled to worke At his sayd trade to Earne Mayntenance for himselfe his poore wife & Children by reason where of y[ou]r poore peticio[ne]r & his are like to Com to great want & pouerty
Your poore petticioner tharefore humbly prayeth y[ou]r worshipps to take his sad Condic[i]on into y[ou]r ser[i]ous Considerac[i]ons And to Alow him somthing out of his ma[jes]ties tresurey for mayned [sic.] soldiers to helpe towards his mayntenance his poore wife & Children for w[hi]ch great favor y[ou]r poore peetti[ti]onor & his as thayr Bounden duty is shall bee euer bound to pray &c
