The petition of Christopher Denny of Petty France (St Margaret’s Parish), City and Liberty of Westminster, July 1660

To the Kings most Excellent Ma[jes]tie

The humble petic[i]on of Christopher Denny

Humbly sheweth.

That yo[u]r pet[itione]r faithfully served yo[u]r Ma[jes]ties Royall father of blessed memory during the late Warrs in the Regim[en]t of horse Comanded by his Highness Prince Maurice wherein he rec[eive]d severall wounds had many losses and endured much hardship being oft imprisoned as will appeare by the Certificate annexed and hath continued his fidelity & loyalty to this pr[e]sent.

That his brother lost his life in the said service and his father & most of his Relac[i]ons (for their loyalty to yo[u]r sacred Ma[jes]tie & yo[u]r Father) lost their estates, so that yo[u]r pet[itione]r being reduced to great streights and his friends disabled to releeve him.

Yo[u]r pet[itione]r most humbly praies yo[u]r sacred Ma[jes]tie to bee graciously pleased to bestow on him a poore knights place of Windsor for his support and livelyhood.

And hee (as in duty bound) shall pray &c.
