The petition of Christopher Coles of Chippenham, Wiltshire, Easter 1649

To the right wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the Peace for the Keepers of the lib[er]ty of England by Authority of Parliament.
The humble petic[i]on of Xpofer Coles of Chippenham in the County aforesaid.
Humbly sheweth
That yo[u]r pet[itione]r hath allwayes bin a souldyer for the State in theis late warrs.
That during the tyme thereof he demeaned himselfe as orderly as appeareth by this Certificate.
That by meanes of a wound he hath lost th’use of his right hand whereby he is vtterly dissabled to p[ro]cure or get his maynten[a]nce, whereof he is now destitute.
Yo[u]r pet[itione]r therefore prayeth yo[u]r wo[rshi]pps to be pleased to affoord yo[u]r pet[itione]r yo[u]r favourable assistance, & to order him yo[u]r best releife herein as in yo[u]r wo[rshi]pps graue vnderstanding shall seeme fitt & reasonable And he shall pray &c
alloc[ate] 20 nobles from The north quart[er] to comence from this Sess[ion]s
