The petition of Anne Moseley of Kinderton, Cheshire, 29 April 1658

To the Right worship[fu]lll the Justices of the peace att this pr[e]sent quarter Sessions
The humble petic[i]on of Anne Moseley and two small Children.
Humbly sheweth that yo[u]r pet[itione]rs husband William Moseley went souldier vnd[e]r the Command of Gen[er]all Venables the voyage for Jameca and left yo[u]r pet[itione]r 3 small Children and her selfe and noe maynteynance nor estate but yo[u]r pet[itione]rs owne Labour, that yo[u]r pet[itione]rs husband neu[er] returned but for ought yo[u]r pet[itione]r knowes was lost in the said service or otherwise disposed of, soe that yo[u]r pet[itione]r is deprived of him, and one of her children since dead, & the other two are vnable for themselues and yo[u]r pet[itione]r since Gen[er]all Venables returne hath {paid her an} allowance for a little tyme w[hi]ch hath beene kept from her by the space of 12 twelue monthes [sic.] last past & vpwards (as may appeare by the Certificate of Captayne Whitworth) and yo[u]r pet[itione]r and her children are allmost sterved for want of releife
Her most humble request to yo[u]r worshippes therefore is that in reference to her lamentable Condic[i]on you wil bee pleased to afford her some penc[i]on or releife towards the maynteynance of her selfe & poore Children, & the rather for yt yo[u]r pet[itione]rs said husband hath beene a souldier in the service of the Com[m]on wealth all the tyme of the late warres & as in dutye bound &c
